We hear a great deal about those who are condemned for their past statements or deeds that are now considered incorrect. Must we condemn those who lived in eras unlike our own?
Remembering Martin Luther King Jr’s words, “The time is always right to do what is right” we will look at Meadville residents Mr Elias Allen and Judge Pearson Church who by their courageous acts in the fall of 1880 set the stage for the desegregation of schools in Pennsylvania the following year.
