Solar Installation Project

In both worship and congregational life, UUCM is committed to climate action that will move us to a more sustainable and just planet, in order to live out the Seventh Principle, “Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.” Because climate change disproportionately affects those who do little to create it, we are also inspired by the First Principles “The inherent worth and dignity of every person,” and the Second Principle, “Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations.”
After making energy improvements over the years, the church installed solar panels on the Parish House roof in 1922. The installation was an experiential learning project led by Professor Ian Carbone with students from nearby Allegheny College and is documented in this short video.
