Sundays at 9:30 am: Open meditation. Everyone is invited to join Harmony in the Parish House in this quiet inward-focused meditative time led by our longtime yogi. It’s been meeting outside during the summer, but now is shifting to the Parish House, which should be open when the choir arrives to practice.

Park Avenue Cinemas will show 13th as the adult Film for Thought movie at 6:00 pm; the simultaneous children’s film will be Akeelah and the Bee. Both are sponsored by SURJ. 13th refers to the Constitutional amendment eliminating slavery–except for criminals. This award- winning 2016 documentary addresses the exponential growth of imprisonment since 1970, the highly disproportionate numbers of black people imprisoned, the exploitation of prisons by profit makers, and the direct line from history of black incarceration.
